Anthony Braxton - Five Pieces

One more album from our now favorite jazzman señor Anthony Braxton. A, mostly, low-intensity album leaning more toward the quiet reverb drenched approach that makes 70's abstract jazzness as awesome as it is. Braxton has a band with him, unlike during his solo appearance on For Alto, in fact this is the same band from Conference of the Birds except Kenny Wheeler replaces Sam Rivers.

  1. You Stepped Out of a Dream
  2. Opus 23 H
  3. Opus 23 G
  4. Opus 23 E
  5. Opus 40 M

Dave Holland - Conference of the BIrds

Essential Jazz here. Liberated sounding (Free), but there is organization and unification of the members. David Holland is the bassist and leader. Anthony Braxton is here again, playing reeds and flute with Sam Rivers while Barry Altschul plays the percussion.

This album as been called a good introduction to the avant-garde form. make of that what you will. ....   ..
